Poppy Luxton
Our new ‘ident’ artwork is designed by Truro College student, Poppy Luxton.
Entitled ‘Mylor Looking Seawards’ we chose the image last year when we entered it in The Arts Society ‘A’ Level art competition along with artworks from Truro School and Truro High School for Girls.
Poppy has sent us a few words about her hopes and aspirations:
“I’m an artist based in Cornwall. I’ve just completed a Foundation in Art and Design at Truro College, where I spent the year exploring creativity, community, and connection.
The featured piece, ‘Mylor, Looking Seawards’, was inspired by my deep connection to Cornwall — its landscape brings me a sense of freedom, calm, and space to breathe, which is so important for my mental wellbeing.
For my final project, I explored the lives of over 300 inspiring Cornish women. Their stories were powerful and moving, and the experience left me feeling proud and empowered.
Next, I’m excited to continue developing my work through graphic design and apprenticeships, while also training with the British Youth Sailing Team as I follow the pathway towards the Olympics.”
